Spaces and Places is a collaboration between the Hartford Preservation Alliance and Rebuilding Together Hartford featuring the work of Connecticut’s top interior designers. This year Holly created a beautiful cabinet finish for Sharon McCormick Design LLC.

“200 Million Years Ago” on display at Hamden Library

This rendering of the prehistoric Connecticut “200 Million Years Ago” is currently on display at the Hamden Library as part of a presentation on Connecticut’s underwater past. Be sure to check it out at the main branch: Miller Memorial Library, 2901 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden.

Our recent projects include this fourteen foot long mural of the Quinnipiac River Valley. It shows East Rock on the left, West Rock Ridge on the right, and the harbor in the distance, as it might have looked two hundred years ago. Commissioned by the Quinnipiack Club of New Haven, the mural is among my most recent work.

This 3’ x 4’ canvas painting of a beaver pond in New Hampshire’s White Mountains is for sale. It can be stretched and framed, or hung flush with the wall and “trimmed” with molding like a window.

Call me to arrange a commission for a custom, original mural or painting, including pet portraits.

Get ready for the 13th annual City Wide Open Studios in New Haven. Artistic Finishes’ studio will be open from noon to 5pm this Saturday and Sunday, September 25 and 26, 2010.

Our most recent work includes small murals of favorite places, as well as a 100 foot long construction fence painted to look like brownstone.

If you’re thinking about a new wall finish, ornamentation or mural, come by the studio and see what’s new.

“Scream the Theme” at Beecher Museum Magnet School

When the Beecher Museum Magnet School, in the Westville section of New Haven, needed more visual identity, they called on Artistic Finishes to help them “scream the theme.” We assembled a team of professionals to create signage and add display areas. Artist and owner Holly Whiting painted a Da Vinci reproduction with the school’s principles, in the main hall.

Faux finishes, custom murals, trompe l’oeil, luxurious plasters and decorative concrete will all be on display at our open house Saturday, October 3 from 1 – 5 p.m. Come see our new studio at 319 Peck Street, Building 2, and see ideas on how a space can be transformed with color and unique, custom finishes. Wine and refreshments will be served and there will be a demonstration of trompe l’oeil muraling.

We’ve been busy beautifying this new restaurant on Whitney Avenue. We created an elegant gold foiled finish on the walls, and this metallic plaster ceiling, right, at Park Central Tavern in the Spring Glen area of Hamden. Come see our work, and enjoy the fabulous cuisine!
